The Adicts Horror Show Adios Amigos Shirt
The old vinyl hissed as the needle dropped, scratching across the grooves, then a wall of sound erupted – the opening chords of something familiar, something that yanked me back to late nights and sweaty mosh pits. I’d loved The Adicts since I was about fifteen, a kid barely past acne and awkward first dates, captivated by the Clockwork Orange aesthetic and the sheer, unadulterated energy they unleashed. I mean, they were just mad! The Adicts Horror Show Adios Amigos Shirt – yeah, I had one of those. It was a prized possession, right up there with my Doc Martens and a well-worn copy of -Filth and the Fury-. I remember getting it at a small gig, probably the only band tee I’ve ever willingly paid full price for, and it felt like a badge of honour, a secret handshake amongst the leather-clad and safety-pinned.

The shirt itself was brilliant, a garish symphony of neon colours depicting a kind of manic, theatrical chaos. There were skeletons, bats, and the band’s iconic droog imagery, all swirled together in a delightfully disturbing concoction. The “Horror Show” tagline was fitting, a nod to the theatrical flair that defined their performances, and that “Adios Amigos” message – even then, I wasn’t entirely sure what it meant beyond a farewell of sorts. It felt like an inside joke, a secret signal. I wore it until it was threadbare, the colours faded, the print cracked, a testament to countless washes and even more sweaty concerts.

I recall a particularly memorable show in a dingy club – the air thick with cigarette smoke and anticipation. The Adicts took the stage with their trademark energy, vocalist Monkey leaping and spinning, a whirlwind of white suit and bowler hat. The pit exploded, a sea of flailing limbs and shouted lyrics, and I found myself right in the middle, completely lost in the moment, singing along with a voice raw from screaming and pure, unadulterated joy. Afterwards, covered in sweat and buzzing with adrenaline, I remember feeling a strange mix of exhaustion and exhilaration, already anticipating the next time.

Good value
It’s summer and I practically live in T-shirts every day. I bought three of the two-packs in different colors and all were cut to fit the same, colors were very true to photos. Soft, comfortable, I’d definitely buy more if needed.
